REASI: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) to review road safety measures being implemented in the district and assess the performance of the stakeholder departments.
The meeting was attended by officers from the Police, Transport Department, Public Works, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Health, Education and other concerned departments.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the implementation status of the District Road Safety Action Plan 2026–27, identification and rectification of accident-prone black spots, installation of crash barriers and parapets, road signages, road safety audits and enforcement activities undertaken by the concerned departments.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to expedite corrective measures at all vulnerable locations. He stressed the need to prioritize the installation of crash barriers, warning signages and creation of other essential road safety infrastructure, particularly along accident-prone roads and hilly stretches. He laid special emphasis on completing the pending road safety audits within the current month.
The concerned agencies were directed to submit detailed reports on the audits conducted so far and ensure timely compliance with the prescribed safety standards and recommendations.
He also directed the Health Department to organize first-aid training across the district to strengthen emergency response in the event of road accidents.
Additional District Development Commissioner Krishan Lal; Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar; Superintending Engineer Public Works Department, Chief Planning Officer, Executive Engineers of the Public Works Department and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
