JAMMU: In a significant step toward conserving disappearing water resources, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has launched a comprehensive initiative to restore and rejuvenate traditional water bodies across the city. The Municipal Corporation aims to revive ponds, wells, and other natural water sources that are rapidly vanishing due to urbanization and changing climatic conditions. JAMMU: A team from Police Post Sarwal, led by Incharge SI Sunil Singh, arrested four persons, including Rajeev Tikoo, after they were found roaming suspiciously with sharp-edged weapons in the Bakshi Nagar area on Saturday. Police said the action was taken following specific information, after which the team swiftly reached the spot and caught the accused red-handed. UDHAMPUR: A man accused in a narcotics case has been released on bail after being fitted with a GPS tracking anklet in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, officials said on Saturday. The accused, identified as Mukhtar Ahmed of Karmara in Poonch district, was granted bail by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Udhampur. Officials said the tracking device was attached on Friday as per the court’s directive to enable real-time monitoring of his movements. JAMMU: The large cache of explosives that detonated inside Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar late Friday night, killing nine people and injuring 32 others, had been seized from Faridabad, Haryana, and transported to Kashmir in a Tata 407 pickup truck as part of an ongoing terror module investigation. SRINAGAR: An accidental blast at Nowgam police station on the outskirts of Srinagar claimed six lives and injured 27 others. The explosion occurred while authorities were extracting samples from a large cache of explosives recently seized in connection with the ‘white-collar’ terror module case, officials said on Saturday. According to the officials, the blast happened late Friday night, killing six people and injuring 27 — mostly policemen and forensic officials.
