JAMMU: Heritage School, Jammu, celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with devotion, reverence and a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility, bringing together faith, tradition and eco-conscious practices on the school campus.
The celebrations commenced on September 14 with the Sthapana of an eco-friendly idol of Lord Ganesha, with students from Classes I to V participating in Ganesh mantras, devotional chants, prayers and Aart.
The occasion was graced by Chairman Sunil Gupta, respected matriarch of the Heritage family Nirmal Gupta, Board of Trustees member Rohit Gupta, Principal Akash Pradhan, Vice-Principal Rashmi Thakur and Headmistress Hemneet Kour, along with coordinators and teachers.
Students were sensitised to the significance of Lord Ganesha as Vighnaharta, the remover of obstacles, and as an embodiment of wisdom, knowledge and auspicious beginnings. The celebrations continued with an evening Aarti, followed by the offering and distribution of prasad among students and staff.
The festivities culminated on September 15 with Ganesh Visarjan conducted within the school premises in keeping with the eco-friendly spirit of the celebration. The idol was immersed in a specially arranged tub near the school’s splash pool, while the collected water was subsequently sprinkled in the school’s organic area, allowing it to return to nature.
Amid chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya”, members of the Heritage family bid farewell to Bappa with prayers and the hope of welcoming Him again next year. The celebration underlined the message that faith and cultural traditions can be observed with devotion while remaining mindful of environmental responsibility.
