BANDIPORA: As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a “Maa Se Guftagu” programme was organised at Bonakoot, Bandipora, to strengthen community participation in the fight against drug abuse and sensitise mothers and families about their crucial role in preventing substance abuse among children and youth.
The programme was attended by Superintendent Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Bandipora, Amreen Anjum, along with the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Bandipora, Supervisors, Anganwadi Workers and Helpers.
The programme highlighted the importance of mothers in shaping the character, behaviour and future of children, and emphasised the need to maintain open communication and trust within families to protect children from drug abuse and other social evils.
Superintendent Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Bandipora emphasised the importance of identifying early warning signs of substance abuse, including changes in behaviour and peer groups. She encouraged the participants to spend quality time with their children, maintain regular interaction with them, and engage them in constructive activities such as sports and other positive pursuits.
Emphasising a compassionate and rehabilitative approach, the programme highlighted the need to extend care, counselling and rehabilitation support to individuals affected by addiction, while discouraging social stigma and promoting their reintegration into society.
The programme concluded with a collective appeal for sustained community participation and cooperation in strengthening the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and building a drug-free Bandipora.
