TIRUMALA: Reliance Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Reliance Industries Limited, has handed over a fleet of 25 electric buses and a dedicated electric vehicle charging station to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), strengthening efforts to promote cleaner and more sustainable transportation for pilgrims visiting Tirumala.
The buses were formally flagged off by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at a ceremony in Tirumala. The initiative comes ahead of the two Srivari Brahmotsavams, which are expected to attract large numbers of devotees to the hill shrine.
The contribution fulfils a commitment made by Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani during his visit to Tirumala in June 2026, when he announced the provision of 25 electric buses to support TTD’s green mobility initiatives. Reliance Foundation and TTD have also collaborated on the development of charging facilities and other infrastructure required for operating the fleet.
The addition of the electric buses is expected to strengthen TTD’s ongoing efforts towards green mobility by reducing reliance on conventional fuel-powered vehicles and providing environmentally responsible transport for pilgrims visiting Tirumala.
The initiative is a joint effort involving Reliance Foundation and Jio-bp, with the foundation providing philanthropic support and Jio-bp contributing its expertise in electric mobility and EV charging infrastructure.
Speaking on the occasion, Anant Ambani said the buses represented a contribution towards making the pilgrimage more comfortable while supporting efforts to protect the biodiversity of the region.
The initiative forms part of Reliance’s broader focus on sustainable development and the promotion of cleaner mobility solutions across India.
