ANANTNAG: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested six suspected drug peddlers in separate operations across Anantnag district and recovered contraband substances from their possession, officials said Monday.
According to a police spokesperson, the arrests were made as part of the ongoing drive against the drug menace in the district.
Police Station Srigufwara apprehended Khursheed Ahmad Nengroo and recovered 70 grams of charas from his possession.
In a separate action, Bijbehara Police arrested Ubaid Majeed Shah with 15 grams of charas. During checking at Wozpan, police also apprehended Mohammad Shameem Das and recovered another 15 grams of charas.
Bijbehara Police further apprehended Muneeb Ahmad Ganie, recovering 14 grams of charas from his possession.
Meanwhile, Zubair Ahmad Palla and Danish Mushtaq were apprehended at Chee Tarbal following the recovery of 3.7 grams of heroin and Rs 11,800 in cash, police said.
Police said further legal proceedings have been initiated in all the cases as part of the ongoing campaign against narcotics in the district.
