REASI: Police officers and personnel were felicitated at the District Police Office, Reasi, on Tuesday for their performance and contribution during the 100-day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi Mukund Tibrewal and other senior officers.
Commendation certificates were presented to officers and officials for their dedication, professionalism and role in implementing the campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
Addressing the gathering, the DIG appreciated the efforts of Reasi Police and said the district had adopted a proactive, result-oriented and multi-pronged strategy to combat the drug menace.
He lauded the teamwork and professionalism displayed by personnel across all ranks and urged them to intensify their efforts in the coming months to sustain the momentum against narcotics trafficking and drug abuse.
During the campaign, Reasi Police registered 97 FIRs against 114 accused.
Police also attached five movable and five immovable properties allegedly acquired through the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking. The provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act were invoked against 12 habitual drug offenders.
In a first-of-its-kind initiative in the district, four vehicles involved in cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act were auctioned in accordance with Section 52A of the law.
As part of preventive enforcement measures, police froze 53 bank accounts, cancelled 32 driving licences, suspended 27 vehicle registration certificates and recommended the suspension of 26 medical shop licences over alleged involvement in drug-related activities.
Officials said the measures were aimed at dismantling the financial and logistical networks supporting narcotics trafficking.
Apart from enforcement action, Reasi Police organised counselling and rehabilitation sessions to facilitate the treatment and reintegration of drug-affected individuals.
Street plays, seminars, public interactions and youth engagement programmes were also held across the district to raise awareness about the harmful consequences of substance abuse.
The ceremony concluded with District Police Reasi reiterating its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and its commitment to strengthening enforcement, prevention, rehabilitation and public awareness initiatives.
