POONCH: The first batch of Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims was warmly welcomed today by the District Administration and a large number of local people, here at the Yatra base camp, College Ground.
The district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma, DIG, Rajouri -Poonch, Sandeep Wazir, Senior Superintendent of Police, Shafket Hussain Bhat, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tahir Mustafa Malik, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Muhammad Sayeed, Assistant Commissioner Development, Shakeel Ahmed Malik, besides other police and civil administration officers along with the Yatra Management Committee, civil society members and large number of enthusiastic locals extended a grand welcome to the pilgrims.
Over two thousand yatris reached Poonch in the first batch, marking the formal commencement of the revered annual pilgrimage.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to ensuring the smooth conduct of the Yatra. He emphasized that comprehensive arrangements have been put in place to facilitate the yatries throughout their spiritual journey.
A large number of locals were also present, showcasing the district’s rich tradition of hospitality.
The arrival of the first batch signals the beginning of a significant religious and cultural event in the district. The Yatra, spanning nearly 10 days will culminate with the Chari Mubarak Yatra from Poonch to Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Shrine in Mandi.
