DODA: A controversy erupted at Government Medical College (GMC) Doda on Monday after local MLA Mehraj Malik alleged a possible examination paper leak and demanded an immediate inquiry, even as the college administration categorically denied the charge.
In a letter addressed to the Principal of GMC Doda, Malik said he had received information from sources regarding an alleged paper leak on August 2. The MLA also confirmed through social media that he had written to the principal seeking preservation of CCTV footage in connection with the matter.

Malik requested that footage recorded between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., covering the area from the main entrance to the academic section through the Principal’s office lobby, be secured to prevent the deletion or tampering of possible evidence.
He sought a fair and impartial investigation and urged the college administration to preserve all relevant records, including examination material, attendance registers, CCTV recordings and other related evidence. A copy of the communication was also forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner, Doda.
Responding to the allegations, GMC Doda issued a circular describing social media reports about an examination paper leak as “false, baseless and misleading.”
The administration maintained that no examination paper had been leaked at the institution and appealed to the public not to believe or circulate unverified information.
The allegation has not been independently established so far. While the MLA has demanded an investigation, the college administration has denied any wrongdoing, and no inquiry confirming a paper leak has been announced.
The development comes amid heightened public concern over examination integrity following the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy, which sparked widespread student protests and culminated in the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on July 25.
