KISHTWAR: The District Employment & Counselling Centre (DECC) Kishtwar, in collaboration with the Skill Development Department, today organised ‘Mission YUVA Capacity Building for Entrepreneurship Mela’ here at ITI.
The event aimed to promote skill development, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance among the youth. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Pawan Kotwal inaugurated the programme.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from students of Polytechnic College, ITI, and GDC Kishtwar, along with job seekers, SHG members, and aspiring entrepreneurs
In his keynote address, the ADC underscored the importance of skilled hands for economic and employment growth. “Skilled people are in high demand across industries. Rather than seeking employment, our youth should strive to become job providers,” he said. He encouraged full utilisation of the opportunities offered under Mission YUVA for personal and community growth.
Earlier, the programme commenced with a welcome address by Assistant Director Employment Shafqat Ali Keen, who greeted the Chief Guest, Other dignitaries, participants, and trainers. He outlined the objectives of Mission YUVA and emphasised its role in enabling youth to become self-employed and generate job opportunities for others.
Later, the ADC, accompanied by Assistant Director Employment, Principal ITI Anoop Sharma and Principal Polytechnic College Mehmood Ahmad inspected the stalls set up by ITI trainees and Self Help Groups (SHGs).
The exhibits showcased carpentry works, motor mechanic projects, mobile repairing services and other skill-based products, reflecting the talent and innovation of local youth.
Technical sessions featured expert presentations by resource persons from ITI Kishtwar and Polytechnic College. Dr. Imtiaz from ITI conducted a session on Microsoft Excel, Canva, and other digital tools essential for modern business management, followed by hands-on training to boost digital proficiency. Arun Kamar from Polytechnic College spoke on the value of skill development in the global economy, urging youth to embrace continuous learning and innovation.
