JAMMU: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a corruption case against a former Patwari in Kishtwar for allegedly demanding ₹5 lakh as illegal gratification and accepting ₹3 lakh through cheque in connection with issuance of a Fard.
According to an ACB statement, FIR No. 02/2026 has been registered at Police Station ACB Doda under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended, against Mohd Arif Mir, then Patwari of Patwar Halqa Trigam, Kishtwar.
The case was registered following a verification by ACB DKR Jammu into allegations that the accused, while serving as a public servant, misused his official position and demanded ₹5 lakh from the complainant for issuing the revenue document.
The ACB alleged that the accused later accepted ₹3 lakh through cheque as illegal gratification, after which the concerned Fard was issued.
As part of the investigation, the ACB obtained a search warrant from the competent court and conducted searches at the residential premises of the accused at Malipeth, near Grid Station, Kishtwar.
The search was carried out in the presence of a Magistrate and independent witnesses, the anti-graft agency said.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain all facts and circumstances connected with the alleged corruption case.
