JAMMU: The Co-Curricular Committee of MIER College of Education organised its annual college fest, “MIER Fiesta 2.0,” on the campus, turning the institution into a lively celebration of creativity, music, dance, and youthful energy. The day-long event provided students with an engaging platform to showcase their talents while promoting collaboration, cultural expression, and a festive campus spirit.
The fest was formally inaugurated by Dr Renu Gupta, Chairperson, MIER Group, who urged students to celebrate their individuality and embrace creativity. She highlighted that such platforms play a vital role in nurturing talent, building confidence, strengthening teamwork, and appreciating diverse abilities beyond academics.
The programme opened with a series of vibrant student performances, including semi-classical duo dances, energetic group dances, solo singing, instrumental music, rap performances, and colourful cultural presentations such as Santali folk dance. Students from various programmes displayed impressive versatility, reflecting the institution’s cultural diversity and artistic excellence.
A major highlight of the fest was the live musical concert by SK Ricky and his fusion band, Agnikosh, which captivated the audience with soulful melodies and high-energy performances, creating an electrifying atmosphere on campus. The celebrations continued with an energetic DJ and dance session that transformed the campus grounds into a pulsating dance floor, bringing together students, faculty, and guests in a shared moment of joy.
Adding to the festive fervour, numerous stalls featuring nail art, caricature making, mehndi designs, designer candles, organic soaps, along with food and game stalls, were set up—many by students themselves—encouraging entrepreneurial skills and showcasing local flavours. These stalls remained a major attraction throughout the day.
Prof. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal, MIER College of Education, lauded the efforts of the organising team, faculty members, student volunteers, and participants. He described MIER Fiesta 2.0 as a vibrant celebration of talent, teamwork, and campus life, reaffirming the college’s commitment to holistic development through academic excellence and meaningful co-curricular engagement.
