JAMMU: Delhi Public School (DPS) Jammu launched its new ‘OUT OF THE BOX – Gen Next Icons’ series with an engaging Youth Icons Motivation Session featuring Arjunveer Singh, a Class XI student of Air Force School Jammu, who captivated students with his multifaceted journey spanning science, innovation, research and Sanskrit.
The initiative has been launched under the leadership and guidance of Founder and Pro Vice Chairperson Kunwarani Dr Ritu Singh, with the vision of connecting students with inspiring young role models whose journeys demonstrate that age is no barrier to dreaming, creating and making a meaningful difference.
During the inaugural session, Arjunveer spoke about his innovative work aimed at making farming easier and more efficient. He shared that national news reports highlighting the challenges faced by farmers inspired him to explore a technological solution to a real-world problem.
His innovation uses sensors to assess soil quality and moisture levels, helping farmers understand soil conditions and make more informed decisions regarding their crops. Through his presentation, he demonstrated how observation can lead to an idea, an idea can evolve into innovation and innovation can ultimately become a solution for society.
Arjunveer also spoke about his journey of recognition, sharing that his work has received appreciation from universities, IITs and government institutions, besides several prizes, awards and letters of recognition. He has also had opportunities to interact with eminent personalities, including Dr Jitendra Singh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Manoj Sinha.
A special dimension of the session was Arjunveer’s deep interest in Sanskrit and India’s intellectual heritage. He recited Sanskrit shlokas and spoke about the language as a living repository of knowledge, wisdom and intellectual thought.
His interaction highlighted how scientific curiosity, innovation, cultural rootedness and a spirit of service can come together to create meaningful impact. He encouraged students to explore Sanskrit and appreciate its continuing relevance in the contemporary world.
The programme began with a formal introduction and welcome by Head Boy Samanyu Sharma, who presented Arjunveer’s accomplishments and diverse areas of interest to the audience.
The highlight of the event was an energetic Question-and-Answer Session, during which students enthusiastically interacted with Arjunveer on his innovation, its functioning, the inspiration behind it, potential applications and his journey as a young achiever. His responses, marked by humility, patience and clarity, made the interaction particularly engaging for the students.
The ‘OUT OF THE BOX – Gen Next Icons’ initiative seeks to take students beyond conventional classroom learning by bringing inspiring young achievers directly into conversation with them. Through real-life journeys, challenges, failures and stories of perseverance, the programme aims to nurture curiosity, confidence, resilience, problem-solving, leadership and emotional strength among students.
Founder and Pro Vice Chairperson Dr Ritu Singh said the initiative was conceived to encourage students to step beyond the familiar, believe in their abilities and explore new ideas and possibilities. Her message to students was: “Dream beyond the ordinary, believe in yourself and never be afraid to think differently.”
Principal Ruchi Chhabra appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of providing students with meaningful exposure to inspiring personalities and real-life journeys. She encouraged students to remain curious, confident and open to new possibilities, noting the role of such interactions in nurturing scientific temper, creativity and leadership.
Vice Principal Meenu Gupta also lauded the initiative and urged students to draw inspiration from Arjunveer’s journey, pursue their ideas with determination and view challenges as opportunities for growth.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Jhanvi Sombriya, Cultural Secretary, Student Council 2026, who expressed gratitude to Arjunveer Singh, the school leadership, teachers and students for making the inaugural session meaningful and enriching.
The programme concluded with the National Anthem, leaving students inspired to think beyond the obvious, embrace challenges, remain grounded in humility and use their knowledge and talents to create a meaningful impact on society.
