JAMMU: Ahead of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has launched a special Tricolour illumination drive across the city to add a vibrant patriotic spirit to Jammu.
As part of the initiative, the bridge over the Suryaputri Tawi River has been illuminated in the colours of the National Tricolour, enhancing the visual appeal of the riverfront and lending a festive character to one of Jammu’s prominent landmarks.
The illumination drive is being carried out on the directions of JMC Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav, with Tricolour lighting being installed at various prominent locations across the city.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at creating a festive atmosphere and showcasing the spirit of patriotism and national pride as the country prepares to celebrate Independence Day on August 15.
The illuminated public spaces and structures are giving Jammu a colourful appearance during the evening hours and creating an attractive ambience for residents and visitors.
Dr Yadav said the Tricolour illumination reflects the city’s collective pride in the nation and the spirit of Independence Day.
He stressed that prominent public spaces should reflect the festive mood while also maintaining cleanliness, beauty and the overall aesthetic appeal of the city.
The JMC has also appealed to citizens to actively participate in the Independence Day celebrations, respect the National Flag and contribute towards keeping the city clean and well maintained.
