SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) on Saturday submitted its 67th Annual Report for 2025-26 to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Lok Bhavan, Srinagar, highlighting significant administrative reforms, faster recruitment processes and technology-driven initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency.
The report was presented by JKPSC Chairman Arun Kumar Choudhary, accompanied by Commission members Dr. Rajiv Singh and Asaf Mehmood Sagar, and Secretary Bashir Ahmad Dar, in compliance with Article 323(2) of the Constitution of India.
The Lieutenant Governor commended the Commission for ensuring fairness, transparency and merit-based recruitment while accelerating the selection process across various government services.
Briefing the Lieutenant Governor, Choudhary outlined the Commission’s structural and technological reforms designed to improve efficiency and transparency in recruitment.
According to the report, JKPSC made 1,152 selections against 1,263 posts referred to it during 2025-26. These included appointments to the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS), Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS), Jammu and Kashmir Accounts Service, 39 posts of Junior Judge in the subordinate judiciary, faculty positions in medical and degree colleges, and various gazetted posts across government departments.
The Commission also conducted 29 Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings, clearing 508 officers for promotion. It approved recruitment rules for two government departments during the year.
The report stated that 94,546 applications were received against the 1,263 advertised posts. JKPSC conducted 52 written and preliminary examinations, two mains examinations and three departmental examinations, in which 813 candidates appeared.
Highlighting key reforms, the Commission said it has adopted a 100 per cent written examination-based recruitment system to strengthen transparency and fairness. It has also introduced an On-Screen Evaluation (OSE) system to ensure error-free assessment and reduce delays in the recruitment process.
In addition, JKPSC has launched an SMS-based communication system to keep candidates informed about examination schedules and interview dates, further improving the efficiency of its recruitment process.
The annual report also details the Commission’s achievements during the year, including selections made, promotions cleared, recruitment rules approved and constitutional responsibilities discharged in strengthening public service recruitment across the Union Territory.
