JAMMU: Reliance Jio emerged as the leading telecom operator in terms of active wireless subscriber additions in June 2026, adding 3.33 million active users during the month, according to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
The addition took Jio’s active Visitor Location Register (VLR) subscriber base to 498.90 million, the highest among all telecom operators. Bharti Airtel added 2.92 million active subscribers during the month, while Vodafone Idea and BSNL/MTNL recorded net declines.
Jio accounted for a 41.5 per cent share of India’s 1,201.06 million active wireless subscribers, retaining its position as the country’s largest active mobile service provider.
The company also remained India’s largest wireless operator overall, with a total subscriber base of 503.58 million at the end of June, representing a 39.3 per cent market share. It added 2.15 million wireless subscribers during the month.
In the wireline segment, Jio retained the top position with 15.63 million subscribers and a 32.7 per cent market share after adding 144,057 fixed-line connections in June.
The company further strengthened its dominance in the 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) segment, ending the month with 9.11 million subscribers, accounting for 70.5 per cent of India’s total 5G FWA subscriber base of 12.94 million. Jio also recorded the highest monthly addition in the segment, with 145,790 new subscribers.
According to the TRAI data, Jio continued to be the only telecom operator offering 5G Unlicensed Band Radio (UBR) fixed wireless services, with its subscriber base rising to 4.93 million after adding 201,302 users during June.
TRAI said India’s total telephone subscriber base stood at 1,348.08 million at the end of June 2026, registering a net addition of 4.98 million subscribers during the month.
