PUDUCHERRY: Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged BJP workers here to strengthen the organisation in the union territory.
According to a spokesperson of the Puducherry unit of the BJP, the Union Minister said that the opposition was trying to blow “non issues” out of proportion and the lack of its clear approach exposes its “infirmities”.
He said the BJP was emerging as a strong political force and urged party workers to make efforts to further strengthen the party.
BJP is a coalition partner in the AINRC led alliance government in Puducherry.
Shah, who arrived here on August 8, participated in a function held at the police ground on Sunday and presented the President’s colour to the Union Territory police in recognition of their dedication, discipline and proficiency.
President of Puducherry unit of the BJP, V P Ramalingam welcomed the Union Home Minister.
Legislators belonging to the BJP and delegates of the party`s wings were also present.
Earlier, Shah kickstarted the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and a large number of youth participated in inauguration of the programme.
A party source said that more than 20,000 national flags would be distributed to households so that they could be flown atop the houses on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day on August 15.
