JAMMU: Dr Vikas Sharma, a Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officer hailing from the remote Dhangri village of Rajouri district, has been promoted and designated as Additional Secretary to the Government in the Higher Education Department, Jammu and Kashmir.
Prior to his promotion, Dr Sharma was serving as Deputy Secretary to the Government.
Known for his people-friendly approach, administrative integrity, transparent working style and efficient leadership, Dr Sharma has held several important assignments during his career in the civil administration.
Before joining the administrative service, he worked as a veterinarian, which gave him considerable grassroots exposure before he moved into administrative roles.
Over the years, Dr Sharma has served as Deputy Secretary to the Government, Deputy Director Estates, Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu and Deputy Director Information (PR), Jammu.
He has also held a number of important field assignments, including District Social Welfare Officer, Child Development Project Officer, Block Development Officer, Commercial Taxes Officer and Tehsildar Rajouri.
His varied postings have provided him with broad administrative experience in rural development, social welfare, revenue administration, taxation, public relations, estate management and other areas of governance.
Hailing from Dhangri in Rajouri, Dr Sharma has earned recognition for his accessibility, citizen-centric approach and emphasis on transparent and efficient delivery of public services.
His promotion as Additional Secretary in the Higher Education Department marks another significant step in his administrative career.
