SAMBA: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Samba today observed the International Day of Older Persons under the theme “The Age of Longevity: Rethinking Systems for Longer Lives.” The objective was to generate awareness about the rights, dignity, health, safety and well-being of senior citizens.
The programme was inaugurated by Chairman (Principal District & Sessions Judge) District Legal Services Authority Ashwani Kumar Sharma in presence of Additional District & Sessions Judge Arvind Sharma, Secretary DLSA, Shafeeq Ahmed and Block Medical Officer Dr. Richa Arora.
On the occasion, the DLSA organised a Health Check-up Programme for older persons, wherein senior citizens were provided medical consultation and basic health check-up facilities. Eye consultation, Ortho consultation, Blood Pressure check – up and on spot Blood Sugar check – up was done. Along this, the necessary medication was also provided to the beneficiaries as per requirement. The programme aimed at encouraging preventive healthcare and ensuring that older persons receive proper attention, care and support.
The DLSA Samba reiterated its commitment towards extending legal awareness, assistance and support to senior citizens, particularly those who are vulnerable or in need of legal intervention.
The programme was attended by judicial officers, officials of DLSA, Bar Members, Medical professionals, Para Legal Volunteers, Litigants and Senior Citizens.
