SAMBA: Deputy Commissioner Samba today chaired a series of district-level review meetings to assess the rollout of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0, with focus on survey progress, beneficiary verification and timely identification of eligible urban households.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of applications received from Municipal Council Samba and urban local committees, including Vijaypur, Bari Brahmana and Ramgarh. Detailed discussions were held on the verification process to ensure that only genuine and eligible beneficiaries are covered under the scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to closely monitor the PMAY-U 2.0 housing surveys being conducted on the ground and ensure comprehensive coverage of eligible families under the Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) component.
Emphasizing transparency and accountability in the implementation of the scheme, the Deputy Commissioner called for strict adherence to prescribed guidelines and timelines. Officers were directed to identify and remove bottlenecks, expedite pending verifications and submit regular progress reports for effective monitoring.
The meeting also reviewed the performance of municipal bodies, awareness activities and beneficiary outreach initiatives aimed at making eligible households aware of the provisions and benefits available under PMAY-U 2.0.
The Deputy Commissioner further took stock of the progress of housing projects sanctioned under earlier phases of the scheme and stressed the need for timely completion of pending works.
The concerned officers were directed to maintain close inter-departmental coordination and ensure that the benefits of PMAY-U 2.0 reach deserving urban poor families in a transparent, efficient and time-bound manner.
