POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today addressed the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ programme, organised by MY Bharat at Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch, as the Chief Guest. Held under the supervision of District Youth Officer Akhil Arya, it aimed to raise awareness among youth about the harmful effects of drug abuse and channel their energy towards creativity, healthy living and nation-building.
The programme drew an overwhelming response across eight categories: Debate, Painting, Slam Poetry, Music, Nukkad Natak, Dance, Reel Making and Slogan Writing. The first-position winners were Vanshika Sharma (Debate), Shahzaib Qayoom (Painting), Mohd Samir (Slam Poetry), Syed Ajaz Ali (Music), Sarswati Group (Nukkad Natak), Sameer and Atif (Dance), Danish Qureshi (Reel Making) and Aliya Khan (Slogan Writing).
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries described youth as the driving force behind a developed India and urged participants to stay away from drugs and use their skills towards Viksit Bharat. The programme concluded with the felicitation of the winners, participants and jury members.
The event was assessed by a panel comprising anchor Pardeep Khanna, Advocate Ronik Sharma, Senior Taekwondo Coach Rajinder Singh, Kirtiman Sudan, Social Activist Akshit Khajuria, Avishkar Sharma, Abdul Qayoom and Baqar Hussain (Warden and Assistant Warden, Government Boys Pahari Hostel, Poonch), Zohra Kareem (Warden, Government Girls PG Hostel, Poonch), Sayma Akhter, Mussurat Choudhary, Vijay Kumar, Prof Lovleen Kour, Prof Yogesh Sharma, Prof Wajahat Jaffri, Dr Shamim Ahmed Banday, Prof Waseem and Prof Niraj Sharma. National Youth Volunteer Asma Gulzar coordinated the programme and compered the proceedings with Samreen Bhat and Sayma Arif.
