RAJOURI: The Indian Army has launched a search operation to trace a man reported missing after a flash flood struck Bharot village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
According to officials, a specialised Army search team, assisted by a trained tracker dog, was promptly deployed after reports emerged that Abdul Ghani had gone missing in the aftermath of the flash flood.
The team carried out a systematic search of the flood-affected area, combing through debris, rubble and difficult stretches of terrain. The tracker dog was used to identify possible traces and assist search teams in areas rendered inaccessible by mud, rocks and accumulated wreckage.
Officials said the operation was being conducted under challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions, with Army personnel maintaining close coordination with the civil administration and other agencies involved in the rescue effort.
Every accessible location in the affected area was being thoroughly searched to maximise the chances of locating the missing man.
The Army reiterated its commitment to supporting the civil administration and local communities during natural disasters and emergencies, adding that search operations would continue in coordination with the concerned authorities while all possible assistance would be extended to the affected family and residents of Bharot village.
