JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir-based entrepreneur Manik Batra has been appointed International Vice-President of the World Buddhist Federation, according to an official communication issued by the organisation.
The appointment recognises Batra’s leadership, commitment to humanitarian service and efforts to promote peace, compassion, cultural harmony and international cooperation.
Batra, Director of the Batra Group, is a prominent business leader from Jammu and Kashmir and has been associated with industry development, entrepreneurship and policy advocacy in the region.
He also serves as Chairman of the ASSOCHAM Jammu and Kashmir Council and Regional Director of the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations in Jammu and Kashmir.
In these roles, Batra has represented industry concerns and worked with government departments, investors and business stakeholders. His repeated appointments to these positions reflect the confidence placed in his leadership, the statement said.
According to the World Buddhist Federation’s appointment letter, Batra will support and coordinate the organisation’s international activities.
His responsibilities will include strengthening cooperation with governments, international organisations, educational institutions, faith communities and civil society groups.
He will also work to advance the federation’s objectives in the fields of peace-building, cultural harmony, humanitarian service and sustainable development.
As International Vice-President, Batra has been entrusted with representing the World Buddhist Federation at national and international forums.
He will organise and participate in conferences, seminars, humanitarian initiatives and cultural exchange programmes aimed at fostering global partnerships.
The federation expressed confidence that his appointment would contribute significantly to its international mission and strengthen cooperation among partner organisations and stakeholders.
The appointment was announced through an official communication dated July 28, 2026, signed on behalf of the federation by Ambassador Dr Parvinder of the World Peace Institute–United Nations.
