SHOPIAN: Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti, Shopian today organized an impactful awareness programme at Kathollan , Shopian, with the objective of sensitizing women, girls and the local community about their rights, safety, dignity and the various welfare initiatives available for their empowerment.
During the programme, participants were sensitized about the vision and objectives of Mission Shakti, with special emphasis on strengthening women’s access to government schemes, services and institutional support. The team highlighted the importance of women’s education, economic independence, financial literacy, legal awareness and participation in decision-making
Detailed awareness was also provided regarding various women and child welfare schemes and support services, including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, PMMVY, women-related social security schemes, marriage assistance, employment-generating schemes, financial literacy initiatives and Mission YUVA. Participants were encouraged to make full use of eligible government schemes and approach the concerned departments for assistance.
The programme also focused on creating awareness regarding women’s safety, prevention of gender-based discrimination, child protection, PCPNDT provisions and the importance of preventing gender-biased practices. The participants were encouraged to speak up against violence, discrimination and practices that undermine the dignity and rights of women and girls.
The Sankalp Hub team interacted with the participants and addressed their queries regarding various schemes and support mechanisms. The programme witnessed active participation from members of the local community, reflecting growing awareness and interest in women-centric government initiatives.
