SRINAGAR: Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, witnessed the coldest night of the season as temperatures dipped to minus 2.1°C, according to the Meteorological (MeT) Department.
As per the MeT data, Pahalgam was the coldest location in the Kashmir Valley where the mercury settled at minus 3.8°C.
Director MeT, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, said that there is no forecast of any wet spell for the next one week, and the night temperatures are likely to remain unchanged till November 17. He added that there is a possibility of a slight improvement in night temperatures after November 17 for two to three days.
With the mercury dipping below the freezing point, parts of Srinagar and other areas of the Valley experienced frost formation during early morning hours, marking the onset of harsh winter conditions in the region.
