JAMMU: To manage the heavy passenger rush during the New Year and winter holiday season, Jammu Division of Northern Railway has introduced a special reserved train between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and New Delhi.
The special train, numbered 04082/04081, is operating from December 27, 2025, to January 1, 2026, with the aim of providing improved connectivity to devotees visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and easing travel congestion during peak days.
The operation of the special reserved train proved successful on its first run on December 28, as it adhered to the scheduled timetable and effectively handled the increased passenger load. The train recorded 100 per cent occupancy on the first day and remains fully booked for the remaining days of its operation.
Officials said all tickets for the special train were sold out within the first few days of booking, reflecting strong passenger demand and confidence in railway services. Passengers travelling on the train expressed satisfaction and enthusiasm over the additional service.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said the special train has brought significant relief to passengers during the festive rush. “The positive response shows how timely introduction of special trains strengthens passenger trust in the railways. Similar initiatives will continue to be taken by Jammu Division for passenger convenience,” he added.
