KATRA: Demonstrating prompt action and an unwavering commitment to public safety, District Police Reasi successfully traced a kidnapped minor girl and arrested the accused within eight days of the incident.
On February 4, 2026, a resident of Sirah Kotla, Kakryal approached Police Post Kakryal and lodged a written complaint stating that his minor daughter had been kidnapped by an unknown person. Acting swiftly, police registered FIR No. 48/2026 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Katra and immediately initiated the investigation.
Under the close supervision of senior officers, multiple police teams were constituted to trace the missing girl. Intensive search operations and raids were carried out at several locations within and outside the Union Territory. Technical surveillance, human intelligence and physical verification were extensively used during the course of the investigation.
With sustained and coordinated efforts, the minor girl along with the accused was finally traced from Ajmer Sharif in Rajasthan on February 12, 2026. The accused was identified as Sahil Ali, son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Sirah Colony, Kakryal, and was apprehended on the spot.
After completing all required medical and legal formalities of the victim, the accused was taken into police custody. Further investigation in the case is currently underway.
The successful operation was carried out by IC Police Post Kakryal Akhilesh Khajuria and SHO Police Station Katra Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Bhishm Dubey and SP Katra Vipan Chandran.
Commending the police team, SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh reiterated the commitment of Jammu and Kashmir Police towards ensuring the safety and security of women and children. He also urged the public to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police establishment to help prevent crime and ensure swift action.
