NEW DELHI: Adding a powerful aviation dimension to Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2026, Indian Army AH-64E Apache attack helicopters are training alongside Indian and US Army troops as part of integrated operational drills.
From joint mission planning and battlefield coordination to integrated manoeuvres and precision engagement, the Apache’s employment provides troops an opportunity to practise the seamless integration of attack aviation with ground forces in a realistic operational environment.
The training further strengthens interoperability between the two armies by refining common procedures, communication and coordination across combat functions. It reflects the growing complexity and depth of Yudh Abhyas, with both armies training together to plan, integrate and execute coordinated operations across multiple domains.
In an X post, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) of the Indian Army said that the bilateral exercise focused on building shared capabilities and operating as a cohesive unit across diverse battlefields.
“From Mountains to Deserts, Training Together, Operating as One.” Exercise YudhAbhyas 2026 witnessed enhanced interoperability between the IndianArmy and USArmy, achieved through integrated training across mountainous and desert terrain. From small-arms firing and artillery engagements to long-range weapon systems and attack helicopter operations, both armies trained through coordinated drills, synchronised battle procedures and combined-arms employment,” the ADG PI said.
“The exercise strengthened mutual understanding, operational coordination, confidence and the ability to operate together across diverse battlefields. From Shared Training to Shared Capability Building a Stronger Partnership,” the post added.
