REASI: District Police Reasi have successfully solved a theft case involving critical telecom infrastructure by arresting one accused and recovering stolen equipment worth approximately ₹2 lakh.
Police said a written complaint was received at Police Post Kakryal regarding the theft of four DTRU units from a Reliance Jio mobile tower installed at village Kandyar. Acting swiftly, FIR No. 49/2026 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Katra on February 6, 2026, and investigation was initiated.
During sustained investigation and targeted operations, police identified and arrested the accused, Adil Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmed Mir, a resident of Chakka, Bhaderwah, presently residing at Talab Khatikan, Jammu.
On the basis of his disclosure, police recovered all four stolen DTRU units from his possession. The recovery has averted potential disruption of telecom services in the area, officials said.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of any other persons in the crime.
The operation was carried out by IC Police Post Kakryal PSI Akhilesh Khajuria and SHO Police Station Katra Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey (JKPS) and SP Katra Vipan Chandran (JKPS).
SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh (JKPS) reiterated the police department’s commitment to safeguarding public and private property and urged citizens to report any suspicious activity promptly to the nearest police station.
