KATRA: Acting on the directions of senior officers, Reasi Police conducted checking on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra Track in Katra to ensure strict compliance with prescribed guidelines governing pony handlers and the regulation of pony services for pilgrims.
During the checking, a police team from Police Post Banganga found two pony handlers operating without valid identification cards. Taking action against the violations, police registered two separate FIRs under Section 223(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
FIR No. 290/2026 was registered against Sushil Kumar, son of Shadi Ram, resident of Sarote, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu, while FIR No. 291/2026 was registered against Shabroz Khan, son of Shamis Din, resident of Jamlan, Tehsil Mahore, District Reasi.
Reasi Police said strict checking and enforcement measures would continue along the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra Track to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims and maintain proper regulation of pony services. All pony handlers have been advised to comply with the prescribed guidelines and carry valid identification cards while operating on the track.
Police reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe, secure and hassle-free pilgrimage for devotees visiting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
