KATRA: Continuing its sustained drive against narcotics and illegal activities, Reasi Police apprehended a person and recovered contraband substances during routine patrolling in Katra.
On February 13, 2026, a police team conducting patrol duty in a flying squad vehicle reached near Hari Singh Chowk. The team noticed a man coming from Varun Chowk towards Railway Station, Katra, who attempted to conceal himself upon spotting the police vehicle, thereby arousing suspicion.
Acting promptly, the police party apprehended the individual. During questioning, he identified himself as Ashok Kumar, son of Late Durga Dass, resident of near Bhumika Mandir, Nelay, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi.
Upon search, approximately 29 grams of ganja-like substance and three quarters of JK Special Desi Whisky were recovered from his possession.
In this regard, an FIR has been registered at Police Station Katra under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.
The operation was carried out by SHO Police Station Katra Ranjeet Singh Rao under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Bhishm Dubey and SP Katra Vipan Chandran.
SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh reiterated the police department’s commitment to maintaining law and order and appealed to the public to cooperate in the fight against drug abuse and other illegal activities.
