JAMMU: To facilitate the smooth movement of passengers during the New Year rush, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway has decided to operate special reserved trains between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra from December 27, 2025 to January 1, 2026.
The initiative aims to provide better travel facilities, manage heavy passenger rush, and ensure comfortable journeys during the holiday season and New Year celebrations.
Train Schedule Details
Special Reserved Train No. 04081 (New Delhi–Katra)
- Operational Dates: December 27 to December 31, 2025 (05 trips)
- Departure: New Delhi at 11:45 PM
- Arrival: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 12:00 PM the next day
- Stoppages: Panipat, Kurukshetra, Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantt, Pathankot Cantt, Jammu, and Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan (Udhampur)
Special Reserved Train No. 04082 (Katra–New Delhi)
- Operational Dates: December 28, 2025 to January 1, 2026 (05 trips)
- Departure: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 9:20 PM
- Arrival: New Delhi at 10:00 AM the next day
- Stoppages: Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan (Udhampur), Jammu, Pathankot Cantt, Jalandhar Cantt, Ludhiana, Ambala Cantt, Kurukshetra, and Panipat
Speaking on the occasion, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, Mr. Uchit Singhal, said that the special reserved trains have been introduced to cater to the rising number of tourists visiting Jammu and Kashmir and to meet the travel needs of local residents during the festive season.
“These trains will help passengers conveniently connect with their families and friends for New Year celebrations and will also play a vital role in managing the heavy rush during this period,” he said.
The special reserved train will operate with 16 coaches. Passengers can book tickets through the official Indian Railways website, mobile app, or authorised ticketing agents. Travelers are advised to check train timings and other details before commencing their journey.
