KATHUA: Jammu and Kashmir Police returned 74 recovered mobile phones, valued at over ₹15 lakh, to their rightful owners in Kathua.
SSP Kathua, Mohita Sharma, informed that the phones—including three iPhones—were traced from different locations in the district after being reported lost or stolen at various police stations. The devices were handed over during a function held at the District Police Headquarters.
She said the Cyber Police Station Kathua has also recovered over ₹12 lakh defrauded amount by solving multiple cyber fraud complaints registered during September and October this year. With this, the cyber unit has recovered more than ₹68 lakh so far in 2025.
“Since the establishment of the Cyber Police Station in Kathua, police have recovered over ₹1.18 crore from fraudsters,” the SSP said, urging citizens to promptly report lost or stolen items for faster investigation and recovery.
