JAMMU: Nagrota and Budgam constituencies recorded strong voter participation in Tuesday’s bypolls, with Nagrota finishing at 74.63% turnout and Budgam closing at 49.92%, according to official figures.
Nagrota Assembly Constituency (AC-77) saw brisk polling throughout the day, reflecting a high level of public engagement. In Budgam Assembly Constituency (AC-27), voter turnout remained steady despite cold weather conditions in several areas, eventually settling just under 50%.
Polling authorities said that voters continued to arrive in significant numbers, while security forces ensured peaceful and incident-free voting across both constituencies.
A total of 17 candidates are in the fray, including National Conference’s Aga Syed Mehmood, PDP’s Aga Syed Muntazir, and BJP’s Aga Syed Mohsin, among others.
