JAMMU: MLA Doda West Shakti Raj Parihar on Tuesday held a crucial meeting with Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), in New Delhi to discuss expediting key development projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the Doda West Assembly Constituency of Doda district.
During the meeting, the MLA submitted a DO letter seeking priority sanction for 29 PMGSY road projects, estimated to cost over ₹400 crore. He informed the Union Minister that the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for all the proposed roads have already been submitted and vetted by the State Technical Agency, underscoring their importance in strengthening road connectivity and infrastructure across the district.
The discussions also focused on two strategically important infrastructure projects — the Sudhmahadev Tunnel and the Chattergala Tunnel — which are expected to ensure all-weather connectivity, significantly reduce travel time and catalyse socio-economic development in the region.
Responding positively, Dr Jitendra Singh assured that the matter would be taken up expeditiously and directed the Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, V. Umashankar, to accord priority to the proposed projects.
The MLA’s initiative aims at accelerating critical infrastructure development, boosting economic growth and improving the quality of life of residents in the Doda West Assembly Constituency. The proposed projects are also expected to contribute significantly to the overall development of Doda district.
