KATHUA: In a major crackdown under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, the District Administration Kathua and Kathua Police on Monday jointly demolished two houses and a cowshed allegedly belonging to chronic drug peddlers at Sapral Pain in Marheen tehsil of Kathua district.
Officials said the demolished structures had been illegally constructed on encroached state land. The action was taken against properties belonging to Gulzar alias Dau, son of Ashiq Ali, and Farman Ali, son of Ashiq Ali, both residents of Sapral Pain, Tehsil Marheen.
According to the administration, both accused are allegedly involved in multiple FIRs related to drug trafficking and other criminal activities.
The demolished properties are estimated to have a market value of approximately ₹3.5 crore.
The demolition was carried out in the presence of civil and police officials as part of the government’s ongoing campaign against the drug menace.
Officials said the action sends a strong message that individuals involved in narcotics trafficking will not be allowed to benefit from the proceeds of crime or construct unauthorized structures on encroached government land.
The District Administration and Kathua Police reiterated their commitment to making the district drug-free and warned that stringent legal action would continue against drug peddlers and all those involved in narcotics-related offences.
