SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have approached Interpol seeking the issuance of a Red Corner Notice against Dr. Muzaffar, a Qazigund-based doctor allegedly linked to the interstate ‘white collar’ terror module busted earlier this week, officials confirmed on Thursday.
According to police sources, Dr. Muzaffar is the brother of Dr. Adeel, who was among the eight individuals — including three doctors — arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Red Fort blast case, which left 13 people dead. Of the eight arrested, seven hail from Kashmir.
Officials said Muzaffar’s role came to light during the interrogation of the arrested accused, who revealed that he was part of a group of doctors — including Dr. Muzammil Ganaie and Dr. Umar Nabi (the suicide bomber who drove the explosives-laden car) — that travelled to Turkiye in 2021.
The group reportedly stayed there for 21 days, during which investigators believe they may have come into contact with radical elements.
Police launched a search for Dr. Muzaffar soon after his name surfaced but discovered that he had left India for Dubai in August 2025. Intelligence inputs now suggest that he is presently in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Turkiye’s Directorate of Communications Centre for Countering Disinformation issued a statement on Wednesday, denying reports that its territory was being used for radicalisation or terror-linked activities.
“The media reports claiming that Turkiye is linked to terrorist acts in India and provides logistical, diplomatic, and financial support to terrorist groups are part of a malicious disinformation campaign aimed at damaging bilateral relations,” the statement said.
“The claim that Turkiye engages in radicalisation activities targeting India or any other country is purely disinformative and lacks any factual basis,” it added.
Authorities said the process to secure the Interpol Red Corner Notice is underway, and the NIA and international law enforcement agencies are being consulted to facilitate Muzaffar’s tracing and extradition.
