JAMMU: In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, Jammu Police (South Zone) have busted an inter-linked drug network and arrested five accused persons, recovering 345 grams of heroin (chitta) along with electronic weighing machines and packing material.
According to police, the operation was carried out by Police Station Bahu Fort following specific and credible intelligence. On September 20, 2025, a naka was established at Railway Pulli, Narwal. During checking, one accused, Vishal, son of Ajay, resident of Ludhiana and presently residing at Rajeev Nagar, Jammu, was apprehended. A personal search led to the recovery of 275 grams of heroin and an electronic weighing machine from his possession.
Subsequently, FIR No. 279/2025 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation was initiated.
During the investigation, police established backward linkages, leading to the arrest of Gogi, son of Neep Ram, and Reema, wife of Gogi, both residents of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal. From their possession, 15 grams of heroin and an electronic weighing machine were recovered.
Further sustained investigation resulted in the arrest of two more accused — Sahil alias Kotto, son of Suresh, resident of Guru Amardass Colony, Narangarh, Amritsar (presently residing at Rajeev Nagar, Jammu), and Rocky Singh, son of Late Ram Singh, resident of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal. On their disclosure, police recovered 55 grams of heroin along with aluminium foil packing material.
The entire operation was conducted by the SHO Police Station Bahu Fort, assisted by IC Police Post Narwal and PSI Irshad Ahmed, under the close supervision of SDPO City East, SP City South Jammu, and overall supervision of SSP Jammu.
Police said investigations are ongoing to identify the source of supply and intended destination of the contraband. A financial investigation has also been initiated to trace and attach proceeds of drug trafficking under relevant legal provisions.
Jammu Police have appealed to the public to share any information related to drug trafficking or other illegal activities, reaffirming their commitment to eradicating the drug menace and ensuring a drug-free and crime-free society.
