JAMMU: The exemplary and conscientious work of the ticket checking staff of the Jammu Division, Northern Railway, was specially appreciated by the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, for their honesty and dedication in returning a passenger’s lost luggage.
Highlighting the incident, on December 23, a passenger travelling in coach C1 of Train No. 26403 Vande Bharat Express, running from Srinagar to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, inadvertently left his bag behind at Srinagar Railway Station. The passenger informed the ticket checking staff on board, Dinesh Kumar, about the missing bag.
Acting promptly, Dinesh Kumar informed the Srinagar Station Superintendent, who traced the luggage and safely deposited it in his office. On the following day, December 24, while on duty on Train No. 26402 from Srinagar to Katra, the ticket checking staff carried the recovered luggage from Srinagar and handed it over to the passenger at the Ticket Inspector’s office in Katra after due verification.
The passenger expressed his gratitude to the railways and the ticket checking staff, stating that the bag contained important documents and cash, which he received safely and on time.
Commending the staff, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said, “The ticket checking staff of Jammu Division has set an example of dedication to duty, further enhancing the image of the railways. Their commitment and spirit of service towards passengers are truly inspiring. The railway is proud to honour such employees, whose actions serve as a model for others.”
