JAMMU: The Jammu Division of Northern Railway has recorded a significant rise in railway revenue through sustained monthly ticket checking campaigns conducted across stations and onboard trains, with a focus on passenger convenience, safety and financial discipline.
The campaigns are being carried out under the guidance of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) Uchit Singhal, with ticket checking staff conducting intensive inspections at stations and in trains to ensure that passengers are travelling with valid tickets.
Since the formation of the Jammu Division, ticket checking drives conducted between April 2025 and December 2025 have detected around 54,098 passengers travelling without valid tickets or in an irregular manner. This resulted in revenue collection of approximately ₹3.73 crore, a notable achievement for the newly formed division operating with limited resources and manpower.
Month-wise revenue earned through ticket checking:
- April 2025: 6,168 cases detected, ₹35 lakh revenue
- May 2025: 4,167 cases detected, ₹22 lakh revenue
- June 2025: 5,489 cases detected, ₹34 lakh revenue
- July 2025: 6,149 cases detected, ₹38 lakh revenue
- August 2025: 6,785 cases detected, ₹36 lakh revenue
- September 2025: 5,610 cases detected, ₹32 lakh revenue
- October 2025: 11,428 cases detected, ₹68 lakh revenue
- November 2025: 4,346 cases detected, ₹56 lakh revenue
- December 2025: 7,956 cases detected, ₹52 lakh revenue
Commenting on the achievement, Sr. DCM Uchit Singhal said the revenue underscores the importance of travelling with a valid ticket. “The funds generated help us provide world-class facilities, enhanced safety and a comfortable travel experience for passengers. We urge everyone to travel with valid tickets and motivate others to do the same,” he said.
He added that the ticket checking drives also help strengthen financial discipline. “In 2026, we will continue to focus on increasing revenue through ticket checking while giving special attention to passenger-centric initiatives such as better transparency, prevention of ticket fraud and promotion of digital payments,” Singhal said.
