JAMMU: Heritage School, Jammu provided its students with an enriching opportunity to participate in an Energy Conservation Programme held under the inaugural event of ‘Saksham’, a national initiative of the Government of India aimed at promoting energy conservation and sustainable practices. The programme was organised by Oil Marketing Companies on February 2, 2026.
The event commenced with a soulful Saraswati Vandana, beautifully performed by the students of Heritage School, setting a serene and auspicious tone. The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, Shiv Kumar Gupta (JKAS), who formally inaugurated the event by lighting the Jyoti Lamp. This was followed by an Energy Conservation Pledge, encouraging students to adopt responsible and sustainable practices in their daily lives.
Students of Heritage School actively contributed to the intellectual discourse of the programme. Niyati Bajaj highlighted the importance of energy conservation and presented an insightful article on sustainable energy practices to address contemporary environmental challenges.
Siya Kaushal of Class IX A presented a Hindi article on ‘Urja Sanrakshan’, emphasising the significance of conserving energy and suggesting practical solutions to promote sustainability.
A prize distribution ceremony was also held, during which participating students were felicitated with gift hampers by the Chief Guest in appreciation of their efforts and enthusiasm.
The programme concluded with an informative guest lecture by Shiv Kumar Gupta, who shared valuable insights on energy conservation, judicious use of resources, and the importance of sustainable living.
The event proved to be highly informative and inspiring, motivating students to adopt energy-saving practices and emerge as ambassadors of sustainability, contributing towards a greener and more responsible future.
