JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Thursday reviewed the security situation and operational preparedness during a visit to a joint temporary operating base manned by personnel of the Special Operations Group (SOG), Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and CRPF at the Doda-Kathua-Udhampur trijunction, officials said.
Prabhat was accompanied by Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Tejinder Singh; DIG Doda-Ramban-Kishtwar Range Sargun Shukla; DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Shiv Kumar Sharma; and SSP Doda Kartik Shrotriya. During the visit, the DGP was briefed by the SSP on the operational readiness of the security forces and the prevailing security situation in the district.
The visit assumes significance amid heightened security operations across the region. Officials said security forces have launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Billawar area of Kathua district following reports of suspicious armed movement. The operation was initiated after local residents reportedly spotted a group of suspicious armed men in the area.
The search operation is being conducted by personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group, with security forces maintaining heightened vigilance in the region.
