JAMMU: FICCI FLO Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu, aimed at promoting leadership, entrepreneurship and holistic development among young women.
The MoU was signed under the leadership of Varsha Bansal, Chairperson, FICCI FLO JKL, and Dr Naveen Anand, Principal, Government College for Women, Parade.
The collaboration brings together the FICCI FLO Young Women Affinity Group and the Centre for Women’s Studies at the college.
Dr Seema Malpotra, Convenor of the Centre for Women’s Studies and CASH Committee, played a key role in conceptualising and facilitating the partnership. She has also been designated as the Single Point of Contact for coordinating and overseeing implementation of the initiatives under the MoU.
The partnership seeks to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing students opportunities through workshops, mentorship programmes, leadership development initiatives, entrepreneurship awareness, financial and digital literacy, skill-building programmes, industry interactions and experiential learning.
Speaking on the occasion, Varsha Bansal said women empowerment must begin at a young age.
“By engaging with young women at the college level, we aim to equip them with the knowledge, confidence, skills and networks they need to become future leaders, entrepreneurs and changemakers,” she said.
Dr Naveen Anand welcomed the partnership and said it would provide students valuable exposure beyond the classroom while helping them develop practical skills and leadership capabilities.
Those present from FICCI FLO JKL included Past Chairperson Ruchika Gupta, Vice Chairperson Sona Mehta, Treasurer Shipra Aggarwal and Joint Secretary Deepti Gandotra.
The Young Women Affinity Group was initiated during the tenure of Ruchika Gupta with the aim of reaching a larger number of young women and preparing them for the future through education, mentorship, practical exposure and essential life skills.
FICCI FLO JKL said the MoU was another step towards strengthening institutional partnerships and creating an ecosystem for women’s empowerment, capacity building, entrepreneurship, leadership development and inclusive growth.
