JAMMU: The fourth edition of the FICCI FLO JKL Marathon, organised by FICCI FLO Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh in collaboration with Jammu Tourism and supported by Munjal Auto as Platinum Sponsor, witnessed around 750 registrations across the 3 km Fun Run, 5 km, 10 km and 21 km Half Marathon categories.
Held under the theme “Discover the Undiscovered,” the marathon combined fitness, tourism and social impact, taking participants through the scenic and lesser-explored Parmendal–Uttarbeni tourism circuit.
The proceeds from the event will contribute towards establishing a Women’s Skilling Centre, aimed at creating opportunities for women through skill development and livelihood initiatives.
The marathon was flagged off by Dr Vikas Gupta, Director Tourism, Jammu; Aijaz Qaiser, Joint Director Tourism, Jammu; and Anissa Nabi, JKAS. The valedictory function was attended by Dr Devansh Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, as Chief Guest.
FICCI FLO JKL Chairperson Varsha Bansal said the marathon brought together fitness, tourism and social impact, while encouraging participants to explore a lesser-known part of Jammu and contribute towards women’s skilling through their participation.
Dr Devansh Yadav appreciated the initiative, saying the marathon promoted fitness, community participation and the region’s natural surroundings, while its focus on women’s skilling added a social dimension to the event.
Dr Vikas Gupta highlighted the tourism potential of the Parmendal–Uttarbeni route, noting that initiatives such as the marathon could encourage visitors to explore Jammu’s lesser-known destinations while promoting fitness.
Participants across age groups took part in the various categories, displaying enthusiasm and sporting spirit. Kanupriya Garg, Sports Initiative Lead, FICCI FLO JKL and Race Director, played a key role in planning and coordinating the event.
In the competitive categories, Himanshu won the men’s 5 km race in 21:18, while Suvidha Sarin topped the women’s category in 29:25.
In the 10 km category, Eklove Sharma won the men’s race in 38:01, while Manminder Kaur emerged winner among women with a timing of 50:59.
The 21.1 km Half Marathon was won by Sunil Kumar in 1:27:25 in the men’s category, while Mansha Dubey topped the women’s field with a timing of 2:19:28.
The event was supported by the FICCI FLO JKL leadership and Executive Committee and reaffirmed the organisation’s focus on initiatives combining fitness, tourism, women’s empowerment, wellness and social responsibility.
