JAMMU: Entrepreneur-cum-actress and daughter-of-the-soil Purnima Behl on Wednesday launched her debut video album ‘Mera Kya Hoga’ in Jammu. The album was unveiled by Team Jammu Chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal.
Congratulating Behl, Jamwal said it was a matter of pride for the people of Jammu that despite being based in Mumbai, she chose her hometown to launch her maiden album. He said Behl has set an example for artists from the region to remain connected with their roots and promote Jammu’s talent at the national and global level.
Jamwal highlighted the creative potential of Jammu’s youth and stressed the need for greater support from government agencies, particularly the Tourism Department and the Department of Art and Culture. He also urged the government to fully implement the Film Policy to attract the film industry to Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, Purnima Behl said Jammu deserves wider recognition on the global map, especially in tourism and cinema. “Being a local, I wanted my first album to be launched from my hometown. Jammu is a beautiful destination and needs to be promoted on a larger scale,” she said, adding that future projects would feature scenic locations from the region.
Behl shared that her journey began in Jammu, driven by a desire to build a meaningful identity and make her family proud. She later enhanced her professional credentials with Rustomjee Training Certification, became MAHARERA certified, and worked in Dubai as a luxury real estate broker with reputed firms.
Despite her corporate career, Behl said she remained closely connected to art and creative expression, which eventually led her to return to India and settle in Mumbai to pursue acting and modelling.
Describing ‘Mera Kya Hoga’ as a deeply personal project, Behl said the album reflects years of learning, patience and perseverance. She expressed hope that it would inspire others to follow their passion with dedication and honesty.
She also thanked her co-actor, lyricist and singer-composer Aditya Rakesh, music producer Akash Bannerjee, director Anmol Gupta, cinematographer Rahul Bhargav, make-up artist Suman and the production house Dhun India for their support.
