SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar chaired a security review-cum-traffic management meeting with senior officers and stakeholders at PCR Kashmir, focusing on strengthening security arrangements and ensuring smoother movement of vehicular traffic across Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Traffic Police, District Police, CRPF and intelligence wings, including the DIG Traffic Jammu, DIG Central Kashmir Range Srinagar, DIG Traffic Kashmir, DIsG CRPF North and South Srinagar, DIG CRPF Operations Srinagar, SSP PCR Kashmir, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, SSP Srinagar, SSP CID SB (K), SSP CID CI (K), SP Cargo Srinagar, all zonal SSPs of Srinagar City and other officers.
At the outset, officers briefed the IGP on the prevailing security situation in their respective areas and shared inputs and suggestions for addressing gaps and further improving traffic and security arrangements. The existing city security grid and deployment of personnel were reviewed, with particular focus on realigning naka points wherever required to enhance security coverage while reducing traffic congestion.
The IGP directed officers to implement appropriate security arrangements across intra-zone, inter-zone, inter-district and peripheral areas. He also called for strengthening check posts at the entry and exit points of Srinagar city and stressed seamless coordination and real-time information sharing among the Traffic Police, District Police and naka points for effective monitoring and swift response.
Emphasising the role of technology, the IGP directed officers to leverage technological solutions for improved traffic regulation, surveillance, coordination and information sharing. He reiterated the importance of continuous review, close coordination and professional execution of security and traffic-management measures, with the twin focus of ensuring public safety and minimising inconvenience to commuters.
