KATRA: District Police Reasi achieved a significant breakthrough in a motorcycle theft case reported at Police Station Katra, leading to the arrest of an accused and the recovery of two stolen motorcycles.
According to police, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Katra by Vijay Kumar, son of Krishan Lal and a resident of Marta village in Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district, regarding the theft of his motorcycle by unknown persons. Acting swiftly, police registered FIR No. 16/2026 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated an investigation.
During the course of investigation, several suspects were questioned. One suspect, identified as Rahul Kumar, son of Sham Lal and a resident of Sirla Bhaga, Tehsil and District Reasi, was apprehended. During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in the theft.
On his disclosure, police recovered the stolen motorcycle bearing registration number JK14 E 1734. Further questioning led to the recovery of another stolen motorcycle bearing registration number JK20 B 8113, indicating the accused’s involvement in multiple thefts.
The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases, if any.
The operation was carried out by SHO Police Station Katra, Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra Vipin Chandran, JKPS.
SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, JKPS, reiterated that District Police Reasi remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of the public and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to their nearest police station.
