JAMMU: In a significant step towards ensuring the transparent and lawful disposal of property seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, District Police Jammu on Monday conducted the public auction of vehicles seized under Section 52-A of the Act.
The auction was held at the District Police Lines (DPL), Jammu, under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Joginder Singh. The auction committee comprised the SP Headquarters, DySP DAR, DySP Headquarters, DySP ANTF, and the Accounts Officer, Jammu.
A total of 11 seized vehicles were auctioned through an open and transparent bidding process, generating ₹14.27 lakh, which will be deposited into the Government Treasury in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedures.
Police said the auction was conducted in compliance with the provisions of the NDPS Act and the directions of the competent authorities, ensuring transparency, accountability, and adherence to all legal procedures.
District Police Jammu reiterated its commitment to taking stringent action against drug trafficking while ensuring the timely disposal of seized property in accordance with the law.
Officials said such initiatives strengthen public confidence in the justice delivery system and reflect the department’s resolve to combat the menace of narcotics through effective enforcement and transparent administration.
