POONCH: In a continued effort to strengthen police–public relations and address the concerns of border residents on priority, DIG Rajouri–Poonch Range Tejinder Singh, IPS, along with SSP Poonch Shafqat Hussain, JKPS, and DySP Headquarters Poonch Neeraj Sharma, conducted an extensive visit to forward areas across the fence in Poonch district on Sunday.
During the visit, senior police officers held a Public Durbar and interacted directly with local residents, patiently listening to their grievances and concerns. The issues raised included civic amenities, security-related matters, border-specific hardships, movement restrictions, and other day-to-day challenges faced by people living in forward and vulnerable areas.
Addressing the gathering, DIG Tejinder Singh assured residents that the police administration remains fully committed to their welfare and security. He said all genuine issues would be taken up with the concerned departments for time-bound resolution, with follow-up ensured at both district and range levels.
SSP Poonch Shafqat Hussain reiterated that the district police remains accessible and responsive, particularly to people living in remote and border areas. He assured that grievances falling under the police domain would be addressed promptly, while issues related to other departments would be effectively coordinated for early resolution.
The officers also appealed to residents to continue cooperating with the police and security agencies to maintain peace, law and order, and overall security in the border belt.
The outreach programme and Public Durbar were widely appreciated by the local population, who expressed satisfaction over the administration’s engagement and assurances of early redressal.
