JAMMU: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Thursday emphasised preparedness for contingencies and swift response to any emergent situation, calling for strengthened layered security and enhanced coordination among security agencies.
The DGP issued these directions while conducting a comprehensive security review of key religious and heritage sites in Jammu, including Raghunath Mandir, Bahu Fort and Tirupati Balaji Mandir.
Highlighting the importance of effective use of technology to improve situational awareness, DGP Prabhat stressed the need to plug vulnerabilities through seamless coordination among the Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, ITBP and other stakeholders.
Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, and Inspector General of Police, CRPF Jammu Sector, R Gopala Krishna Rao, accompanied the DGP during the review.
While assessing the security arrangements, the DGP laid special emphasis on strengthening layered security, improving crowd management mechanisms and ensuring technological support for real-time monitoring.
The visiting officers also interacted with personnel deployed on the ground and issued necessary directions to further tighten security measures and enhance inter-agency coordination. Special focus was placed on preparedness for contingencies and ensuring a quick and effective response to any untoward incident.
Officials said the joint security review aimed to ensure a safe and secure environment for devotees and visitors, while maintaining public confidence and operational readiness.
The DGP reiterated the commitment of all security agencies to uphold peace and security in the region through proactive planning and regular assessments.
Deputy Inspector General, JSK Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma; SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh; SSP Security, Rajesh Sharma; SP PC Jammu, Kameshwar Puri; SP South, Ajay Sharma, along with senior officers of the CRPF and ITBP, were also present during the review.
